[Roundtable] Camping Committee Report

Hello, everyone.  Hope all is well.  Here is a update on whats going on with the District and Council Camping Committee.

On February 3, the Council Camping Committee met at Camp Maubila for the annual Pre-camp inspection, items to be repaired and/or replaced were noted and sent to the OA and council to be attended to.  Kark Kigerl is the new Council Camping Chairman.

Phillip Harrell, the camp Ranger, reported on Winter Camp adding that it was a great success.  Geoff Peacock, our District Commissioner, is also the Council Day Camp Director.  If you have any questions about Cub Scout Day Camp, you can conact him, or Scott Mueller, the District Day Camp Director.  As you all know Summer Camp is coming up and Scott Wenzel will be the Camp Director again this year, if you know of any boys 14 or older interested in a summer time job thats lots of fun please contact him at the Council Office.

By now, all of you should have received your 2004 Council Camporee packets.  If not you can contact to get one.  The council camporee will be held at St. Stephens Historic Park near Leroy, AL.  The theme for the camporee is "A Taste Of History".  The weekend is full of program and games for everyone.  

Camp Maubila is getting new restroom facilities!  Jim Alexander III, the chairman for the project, is currently working on plans and obtaining blue prints for 5 new restroom facilities.  These will be be placed between every 2 campsites and will include, flushing toilets, showers, on-demad hot water heaters, sinks and more.  You should see these at camp by April 2005.

I am currently in the process of putting together the District Camping Commitee. If anyone is interested in serving on the committee please email me at bmgrandquest@att.net or give me a call at 680-6761.  The Camping Committee will meet once a month.
