I have been working with the USA College of Engineering to have them
host Webelos Scouts to help them earn their Engineering Activity
Badge. Below is the information I have for your planning purposes.
This is an after school activity and will last from 3 - 4:30 Feb 26.
Numbers in parenthesis relate to the new Webelos Activity Badge
requirements.
This is open to all Webelos in the Council. Reservations are
required and space is limited. Please make them ASAP.

Thanks, Geoff. I think I have the beginnings of something worked out,
and some tentative agreements from some of the other faculty to
participate. We're planning to hold this engineering scout workshop
from 3 to 4:30 pm Thursday, Feb. 26.
I'm arranging 5-6 workshops: a bridge workshop (#7) where the scouts
will learn about different designs and design and test their own design
with a computer program; an electrical workshop where they will discuss
generation of electricity (#5) and make a simple circuit (#6); an
engineer's workshop where the scouts will be able to talk with several
working engineers (#1); and 2 more workshops that my class will be
designing (hopefully at least one of those 2 will do either #8 or #9;
the other will satisfy one of the requirements from the scientist
badge - I have to give my students some choices, but I'm going to
emphasize the need for one of the engineer's activities). There might
be a 6th workshop to make polymers for the Girl Scout badge.
This is tentative, but I think it will work... Please feel free to pass
this on to the other scout troops you've been talking to. I can be the
contact for reservations, as we discussed last week. I'm looking
forward to making this work!
