They will allow tent camping to resume in about two weeks. They will be in full operation by the time of the camporee Oct. 22-24th. If you plan to take your Webelos Den camping there that weekend, you need to make reservations early next week. Most state parks in our area are shut down along with many commercial campgrounds. The snowbirds are going to have a limited number of areas to use this fall and winter. Call Tina Collier at 861-2742. Be sure to tell her you are a Boy Scout group. The cost will remain the same as before. Be sure to file a tour permit. If you have any questions, please call me (639-0112) or Jeff Caldwell (786-1000). Since popcorn pickup has been moved to November 20, Webelos Woods has been rescheduled to the first weekend of December. Scouts will arrive Friday evening, 12/3 with Webelos scheduled to arrive Saturday morning, December 4. The deadline for the patch design competition is still the October Roundtable, Thursday evening, October 14. The Coast Guard has informed Jeff and me, that they cannot allow us to use their facilities next weekend. Contrary to what they have been telling us, their facility will not be ready. However, let not your heart be troubled. We have made arrangements for the entire District to camp at the Fort Gaines campground in a special area next to the Sea Lab. We will have much more available space to camp and do our events. We can spead out and not be on top of each other. We will also have access to water and electricity and a bigger bath house. There is no extra charge involved. At the main gate of the campgound, ask to be directed to the Camporee area. This will not interfer with the Webelos that have all ready reserved campsites. The camporee will be held in an entirely different part of the campground. We will be farther from the Gulf than we had hoped. We are in the process of making arrangements to transport your Patrol's boats to the event area. Some of your trucks might be needed. Please assure your Scouts, that they WILL put their boats in the water and compete. In you have any questions please call me (639-0112).
