Who is the most neglected boy in your unit? Leaders,
could it be your own son? Here is an opportunity for
you to spend some one-on-one time with your son or
sons, and not worrying about someone else’s son.
Bring your own, watch your own.
This is a fun weekend with no scheduled, organized
activities. Yes, there will be things for you to do,
but at your own leisure. Some of the fun things will
be fishing, volleyball, lawn bowling, box hockey,
hiking, horseshoes, stilts, lawn skiing, and more.
All leaders and lads will take care of their own
camping, cooking, and clean up. There will be lots of
fun and fellowship. A campfire is planned for
Saturday night, and a Scout service on Sunday morning.
This is a great opportunity to spend a fun weekend
with your son(s). For those interested, the camp area
has one port-a-potty. Space is limited to a total of
300, first come, first served. Please RSVP by May 1,
2005 to deecubmom@yahoo.com.

Dear Scouters,
I would like to thank the Roundtable Commissioner's for again presenting
unit leaders with quality, informative, and fun information, ideas, and
encouragement.
Serving as your Roundtable Commissioner's are: David Edwards as the Boy
Scout RT Commissioner, Sabrina Alexander and Stephanie Winker as the Cub
Scout RT Commissioner's, we as a district could not be more blessed to have
leaders with any greater desire to be of service to you, while possessing a
love for the scouting program.
As unit leaders sacrifice time, energy, and even personal funds to support
your individual units, I know that these commissioner's are equally
committed to assisting you in your success as leaders.
As we all come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and simply
fellowship as friends and fellow Scouters, I hope that not only those
searching for help and ideas, but those who have many years of experience to
share will attend Roundtable in March and throughout the year, to share the
joy of Scouting one with another.
As your District Commissioner I applaud these three commissioners who
prepare presentations for the Roundtable attendees and wish to encourage all
other units to send at least one representative to this great opportunity of
increasing one another's success.
Please note these newly scheduled events for your enjoyment and
participation:
1. Leader's and Lad's weekend May 14/15, for those leaders who seldom get
to spend quality one-on-one time with their own boys. A fun, non-structured,
low maintenance, for the whole family, time to have fun! Call Geoff, Dee, or
Jack.
2. Spring Break Bowling afternoon Mar 31, 3-5 for a closed bowling alley,
scouts, family, and friends only, complete with blacklights, DJ, and an
opportunity to earn, pins or loops. Call Dee, or Peter.
In short, thanks for all the efforts and contribution of time, talents, and
scouting spirits!
Yours In Scouting,
Peter J. Howard

Dear Scouters,
It has come to my attention that some are upset about the council membership
as a whole being invited to attend Maubila, during the same weekend as the
OA Winter Gathering, for the purpose of providing labor for the clean-up of
Ivan debris.
One of the concerns for OA participants is that they are going up to work,
while paying to attend the Gathering, while the council membership as a
whole may attend without charge plus free meals on Saturday.
In my efforts to address your concerns, Mr. Luc states that the Lodge was
consulted and approved the event details.
Additionally, the Gathering is scheduled as a entire weekend event, whereas,
the camp clean-up request is for Sat. 12th.
Should you have additional questions or concerns please contact the Lodge.
Best regards,

Dear Scouts and Scouters,
This coming Sunday, February 27 will be a celebration to remember. The
Government Street United Methodist Church, located at 901 Government Street
in Mobile, will be hosting area scouts for a City-Wide Scout Sunday
Celebration. Scout Sunday is a time to celebrate the contribution that
scouting makes in the lives of the youth and children in our community.
If you are a boy or girl involved in scouting, or, if you are an adult
volunteer or scouting parent, you are invited to join in the celebration!
Come in your uniform and plan to stay after the worship service to be our
guest at a luncheon served in honor of our scouting friends. The worship
service begins at 11:00 a.m. Plan to arrive by 10:50 a.m. There is parking
available at the church lot on the corner of Government Street and Marine
St. one short block west of the church. Also there is additional parking at
the CVS Pharmacy and Sav-a-lot Grocery which are located across the street
from the church at the intersection of Government and Broad.
There will be Girl Scouts from Mary B. Austin Elementary School and the Cub
Scouts from Pack 105 at Kate Shepherd Elementary. Sea Scout Ship Mobile Bay
will also be present. Spread the word around your unit today. For more
information contact Rob Gulledge at thebeekeeper@thebeehive.us
To RSVP this invitation simply call the church office and indicate the
number of people you expect to be participating. Be sure to include scouts,
leaders, and their family members so that there will be plenty for everyone
at the luncheon.
Sincerely,
Rob Gulledge
Commodore (i.e. Committee Chairman)

Dear Scouters,
I now understand that the clean-up arrangements allow for camping of the
general membership Friday and Saturday nights, and as noted last evening the
Sat. meals will be provided to such attendees.
These arrangements were made between Mr. Luc and the Lodge, last year. The
interests of the facilities and future use of the camp by scouts seems to be
driving this endeavor, as it should.
As I understand, the OA members will receive T-shirts, patches, and
insurance for their attendance and labors provided also as a result of the
registration fee.
The need for clean-up is a bit unusual and will hopefully prepare the camp
for summer use.
I trust that those who are able to attend will devote their time and talents
in a manner beneficial to scouting. Should any one have questions please
contact the Lodge or feel free to contact me directly.
We will all pray for no hurricanes next year, as such storms inflict so much
devastation and other problems on any area it falls upon.
Happy Scouting!

I know he'd rather be camping with you good folks.
